Dr Elise LowickDr. Elise Lowick completed her Bachelors of Arts degree (with Honours) in Psychology at the American University in Washington DC in 1994. She undertook her postgraduate studies in Australia, completing a Masters of Clinical Psychology in 1998 and a Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology at the University of Sydney in 2004.

Dr. Lowick has over 25 years of experience in working with adults, children, adolescents and families. Earlier work experiences included employment at The National Institutes of Mental Health and Chestnut Lodge Private Hospital while more recent work has focused on therapy with children, adults, families and individuals.

Dr. Lowick holds an Honorary Association with several universities, including University of Sydney, Macquarie University and she is a guest lecturer at the University of Western Sydney.

Dr. Lowick has extensive experience working with a wide range of professionals to insure the best comprehensive care for clients.  Professionals with whom she has forged close ties include those in the NSW Department of Health and Department of Education. Other professionals with whom she has close links include GP’s, Psychiatrists, Social Workers, Speech Pathologists and School Counsellors.

Dr Lowick is trained within a cognitive behavioural (CBT) framework. CBT is a scientifically and evidenced based therapy shown to be the most effective treatment method for overcoming a number of personal issues. Dr. Lowick believes in using a combination of therapies to help resolve issues for individuals based on the personal needs of the client, including mindfulness and dialectic behavioural techniques as needed. A warm and empathic approach is used to tackle the problems a client may face with a collaboration between the therapist and client as the primary focus.

Dr Lowick provides supervision for clinical psychologists and provisionally registered psychologists seeking to meet requirements for registration with the NSW board of psychology and Australian psychological society.

Cheryl SewellMs. Cheryl Sewell is a psychologist, counsellor, social worker and mediator. Ms. Sewell has over 20 years of experience in working with children, families and individuals with a wide range of difficulties.  Ms. Sewell specialises in meeting the individual needs of clients with a caring approach that incorporates individual and family perspectives.

Cheryl has experience in a range of community based and school based settings and is trained in a variety of interventions including cognitive behaviour therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, emotionally focused, family therapy and mediation, narrative therapy and play therapy. She will choose a treatment method which bests suits your needs and which is researched to be the most effective form of intervention for the issue
you are experiencing.

When treating children, teenagers and families, or adults as individuals she works corroboratively with you and other clinicians, the school counsellor or other health providers to ensure that you receive the most comprehensive treatment necessary.

Her approach is warm and empathic but also dynamic and solution focused, meaning that treatment is efficient and effective.

She offers appointments on Wednesday afternoons and evenings (4.00pm – 10.00pm) at Lane Cove Psychology.
